GeoViolin runs inside GeoShred Studio, where the violin's full bow-string response is accessible across all four strings (G, D, A, E) on GeoShred's multi-row continuous pitch surface. Press into the grid to shape bow dynamics and vibrato; shift position to move the contact point from sul tasto to sul ponticello. The carrying power that makes a single violin audible over a full orchestra responds directly to what your hands do on the surface. The SWAM engine by Audio Modeling drives the underlying acoustic simulation; GeoShred's integrated FX rack adds reverb, echo, and amp modeling as part of the signal chain throughout.

The Violin's Acoustic Identity

The violin reached its acoustic maturity in the Cremonese workshops of the 16th and 17th centuries and has remained essentially unchanged since. Its position at the top of the string family gives it a carrying power disproportionate to its physical size, the result of bow-string physics where controlled contact point, bow speed, and pressure produce a tone rich in upper harmonics that cuts through even a large ensemble. In GeoShred Studio, that continuous physical interaction is modeled in real time, so the instrument responds directly to gesture across its full dynamic range.

GeoShred Studio and GeoShred Control

GeoShred Studio is moForte's professional desktop performance platform, a VST3, AU, or AUv3 plugin that runs inside your DAW or standalone. Its isomorphic surface tuned in perfect fourths provides melodic continuity across the violin's range; slide and portamento movement that would require awkward position shifts on a physical instrument happen naturally on the grid. Real-time pressure and gesture response are built into the platform from the ground up, not layered on top of a static MIDI instrument.

GeoShred Control pairs with GeoShred Studio over USB and puts a multi-touch iOS surface in a performer's hands during live play. Wind controllers, breath controllers, and MPE hardware all connect directly as well.
