GRN captures incoming audio and lets you pull grains from anywhere in its history. Not just frozen moments — you choose how far back to reach, how wide to scatter, and how chaotic it gets. The result: textures that evolve, shift, and surprise you.

Grain Control:

  • Size 10-500ms, Density 0.5-100/sec (tempo-syncable).
  • Playhead Position with adjustable zone width.
  • Buffer Size — Short, Medium, or Long.
  • Spray — scatter within selected zone.
  • Freeze — lock buffer, replay indefinitely. Freeze Hold keeps audio playing when DAW transport stops.
  • Gate — threshold-based grain triggering.

Pitch & Harmony:

  • Pitch shift ±24 semitones.
  • Pitch jitter up to ±12 semitones.
  • Harmony Mode — Octaves, Fifths, Oct+5th. Scatter knob controls how many grains receive harmony intervals; Direction knob steers pitch up, down, or both.
  • Scale Quantization — Major, Minor, Pentatonic, Chromatic, Dorian, Phrygian, Lydian, Mixolydian, Harmonic Minor, Whole Tone.
  • Reverse playback.

FX Rack:

  • 9 built-in effects — Bitcrusher, Chorus, Reverb, Delay, Phaser, Flanger, Distortion, Tremolo, and Utility.
  • Drag-to-reorder effect chain.
  • Per-slot animated visualizers and bypass toggle.
  • WET / DRY / BOTH routing — process the granular output, the dry signal, or both.

Dual LFO Modulation:

  • 2 independent LFOs — drag from waveform onto any knob to assign.
  • 7 shapes: Sine, Triangle, Square, Saw Up, Saw Down, Sample & Hold, Random.
  • Tempo sync with note divisions from 1/1 to 1/32. Sync to DAW transport for phase-locked modulation.
  • Bipolar depth — invert modulation direction per route.

Feedback Engine:

  • Route output back through the full chain.
  • Delay 10-2000ms.
  • 3 saturation modes (Warm / Tube / Crunch).
  • Stereo width, tape wobble.
  • HP/LP filters with PRE/POST routing.

Workflow:

  • 100 factory presets across 11 categories — Textures, Space, Lo-Fi, Pitch, Glitch, Rhythmic, Creative, Ambient, Dark, Cinematic, Subtle.
  • Save and organize your own presets in subfolders — appear as nested menus in the browser.
  • Mix Lock — keep your dry/wet balance when browsing presets.
  • Randomizer — 5 musical profiles (Ambient, Shimmer, Glitch, Subtle, Deep).
  • Real-time waveform and grain visualization.
  • Info buttons for every control.

Good for:

  • Ambient textures that never sit still.
  • Tempo-synced glitch and stutter.
  • Film/game sound design.
  • Feedback drones and evolving pads.
  • Turning drums into pitched instruments.

Specs:

  • VST3 / AU / CLAP.
  • Windows, macOS (Intel + Apple Silicon), Linux.

This is a plugin that I believe is well worth the money you spend, and it scratches my itch for granular effects. It includes many features you would expect to see, all wrapped in a very easy to use interface with good visual feedback. If you are looking for a granular effect that is cheap, easy to use, and doesn't have an invasive DRM or authorization process, this one is perfect for you.
