Modulus V1.3

Hi everyone,

I've just released Modulus v1.3, an update to my free Max for Live device. The UI has been cleaned up a bit for a more intuitive workflow, and the old Tape Mod section has been replaced with elements from my one of my other devices "Tape Machine". Offering improved saturation, colour, and functionality.

I built Modulus as a versatile tool for sound design, ambient/ nostalgic textures and experimental synth work in Ableton. It's completely free to download and use in your projects.

I'm also currently open to collaborations at the moment — particularly with filmmakers and other creatives if anyone is looking to work with me on anything at the moment feel free to reach out.

As always I'm happy to answer any questions about the device or creative ways to use it.

Modulus – Polyphonic Synth for Ableton Live.

Modulus is a polyphonic synth for Ableton Live built by Stephen Black, designed to be super flexible and great for sound design. You can switch between various waveforms, mess with both frequency and amplitude modulation, and shape things using an envelope filter for detailed control over attack, decay, sustain, and release.
One of Modulus's features is that you can set the FM and AM to run either as standard LFOs or sync them up with Live's tempo. That opens up a lot of creative options—everything from wild free-running modulation to tight, rhythmic patterns.
