about neurontube

The more you play with neurontube: debut, the more passionate you will be about playing guitar. You get the whole package: from the insane roar of american high gain, to the british clean bliss. Damn, you even get the edge-of-breakup tones that you know and love.

All this combined with boutique stomp pedals modeled using advanced artificial intelligence techniques, hand picked cabinets and mics captured with precision overkill, which definitely makes neurontube: debut unique in tone.

the pedalboard

neurontube: debut ships with these amazing pedals for maximum control over your tones. Here they are:

COMPRESSOR: as the name says, a compressor pedal, that makes controlling your signal volume easy.

BURN: distortion/fuzz pedal. It lets you go from a edge-of-breakup Centaur-like sound, to giving you the low end tightness of tubescreamers, to amp melting fuzz. It covers it all.

CHORUS: chorus pedal, for this one we went for a vintage chorus modulation. Sounds great at speedy rate 80's tones, or slow rate fulfilling chords, beautiful stuff. Boosting the feedback/depth you can get to the psychedelic side of this pedal.

TIME MACHINE: our delay pedal, based on a hand picked analog delay pedal, was designed to filter off annoying treble frequencies, making it sound darker than most digital made delays. Control the time, feedback and mix.

THE ROOM: a studio room reverb pedal. Control the room size, the reflection brilliance and the mix. You can even control the position of the pedal on the chain of your signal: pre or post the amp (loop fx like).

the amp selection

Playing a classic amp is awesome. This is why we made our version of these amps that we think that every guitar player should have a chance to play. Here are the models (that we based on) in neurontube: debut:

Soldano SLO-100.

And the forgotten british edge-of-breakup legend:
Laney TF300.

The SOLDANO and LANEY are third party trademarks and not owned by audiosingularity.

the cabinet section

Here lies the true tone shaper. Whatever the tone you are looking into, the most important choice that you have to make is the cabinet.

Knowing this, we went out looking for the most amazing cabinet tones that we could possibly find. Our selection speaks by itself.

1×12 HH Invader Laney TF300 Combo
4×12 Vintage 30 Marshall 1960 LEAD A
4×12 Vintage 30 Modern American Cab.

All this mic'd with hand picked studio microphones.

The HH Invader, Laney, Celestion and Marshall are third party trademarks and not owned by audiosingularity.

user interface

neurontube: debut is shipped with a precision tuner, input/output level control, input/output level metering, noise gate control, preset editor, amp selector, a pedalboard section, amp section, cabinet section and mute button.

system requirements

neurontube:debut comes in 64-bit VST3 / AU (macOS only) / Standalone app. Works on:

Windows 10.

OS X 10.12 to up-to-date macOS versions.

Linux debian distros (tested on Linux Mint and Ubuntu).

This is an excellent high gain VST plugin. I have a number of other amp plugins and this one kicks ass.

Excellent amp, the SLO-100 is easily the best free high gain VST amp I've heard, and sounds close enough to a Soldano as far as I'm concerned. No trouble with unwanted noise, exessive use of CPU or antivirus.

The TF300 is a nice addition, and something you don't see much of in amp sims. It captures the sound of the Laney quite well when hooked up with an external IR loader. Cheap or not, it has a distinctive sound which many find attractive. The pedals are of decent quality, I liked the distortion in particular. The amps are very well done, the cab section could use some more work. The two 4x12 cabs works well with the SLO-100, I don't think the 1×12 Combo does the TF300 justice though.

Not really bad, in principle, but also not really awesome, new, innovative, outstanding or at least better sounding for me.

I already have a much better and more authentically sounding SLO plugin and the Laney is just a cheap transistor amp with alibi tube and so it unfortunately also sounds. I hardly can imagine, that anybody needs a plugin simulation of a transistor amp, at least I do not.

Strange, not very convincing amp combination.

The pedals only sound like some budget copies to me, not my idea of usable, much less top-notch or iconic vintage pedal tones.

The sounds did not convince me enough for a new plugin from 2023, sorry.

Yes, there is a lot of room for improvement. Thanks for trying Neurontube.

Bad performance in my PC, it takes a lot of CPU consumption. I hope in the future they can figure out how can fix that.

Response from xmanfredini from audiosingularity on February 3rd, 2023

Oh, we are working on making options to run easy on older CPU's. Thank you for your suggestion.

Excellent amp. Looks great obviously, but sounds really good. What you don't see until you install it is there is a cabinet selection option, pedalboard, and most notably a second combo amp. The Eqs are really sensitive which I like. A lot of amp sims are designed to sound exactly like the real amp your modelling which is fine, but I have real amps, a Helix, and Kemper, and loads of amp plugs. The sensitive eq makes it easy to cut through each individual mix according to the song. Anyway, kind of can't believe this is free. Grab it before it isn't. No problems with Norton or virus on my end. Thanks for the plugin.

A good guy on Discord discovered that if you put it in VirusTotal it flags something that apparently uses your pc as a miner, I don't know if it's safe to download this plugin.

There is no malware of any kind on our software. OSes may flag it because we don't sign the installer as it will raise our costs. I, as a developer and founder at audiosingularity, assure you that it is 100% safe. We intend to sign it in the future as we are also developing paid stuff. Thanks.
