SynFeX

Everybody has heard the noise rises and low drops in film and contemporary music and SynFeX makes sure that you do not have to search long for your tempo-based audio FX sound.

The 'movement' section allows you to quickly adjust your risers and drops to suit your needs. SynFeX not only delivers classic synthesizer noise FX sounds, but it also has built-in samples, and also allows you to load in your own samples. Adding the different Filter types, Granular synthesis on the samples, and top-notch FX will help finalize your creative FX when used in your productions.

Last but not least, there is a 'Ribbon Controller' for dynamic changes to the sound, including the unique spring-back feature.

Features

General:

Presets / Folder & Global Section:

• 300+ Presets are sorted in Bank Folders with categories of sounds.
• Additionally, there is a 'Quick Browser', 'Favorites', and 'Star' system in the bank manager.

Movement section and Controls
The movement control is the main controller in SynFex. It acts like an envelope or if the loop feature is active as an LFO, with each voice having its independent movement:

• Movements Up/Down, Down/Up, Up, and Down.
• Speed of the movement control, with tempo-based sync option.
• Speed change control option menu.
• Loop On/Off.
• Speed Lock.
• Snap to grid.
• Center dot control to alter the Movement balance.

Movement Modulation Controls
The Movement is a modulation source which can modulate the following default destinations and two optional free destinations:

• Movement to Filter Frequency amount control.
• Movement Modulation to Pitch amount.
• Movement to Volume amount control.
• Movement to Pan amount control with 10 panning modes.
• Movement to free Destination 1 and 2, with amount controls.
• Key-Track control to Speed.
• Velocity-Track control to Speed.
• Shape Up and Shape Down controls.
• Attack control for additional volume control at the start of the Movement.
• Release control for additional volume control at the end of the Movement.

Source Controls
SynFeX has several different ways of creating the sound, this can be chosen by using the Source menu:

• Noise Source, with mix controls mixing between Pink Noise to White Noise, and a sinus waveform sub-oscillator.
• Tuned Noise Source, with mix controls mixing between Pink Noise to White Noise, semi-tune control, and a sinus waveform sub-oscillator.
• Synced Noise Source, with mix controls mixing between Pink Noise to White Noise, semi-tune control, and a sinus waveform sub-oscillator.
• Wave Source with analog-modeled oscillator mixes between sinus, saw, square, and triangle waveform, semi-tune control, fine-tune control, symmetry control, feedback, and a sinus waveform sub-oscillator.
• Sample Source with built-in samples, option to load samples, granular option, sample start offset, semi-tune and fine-tune control, aa sinus waveform sub-oscillator, and sample editor open/close.

Filter Section
The sound generated by the source is passed into the filter section using 32 Filter types, and additionally Ring and Amp Modulation:

• 6dB LowPass and HighPass Filter.
• 12dB LowPass, HighPass, BandPass, Notch Filter.
• 12dB Zero Delay LowPass, HighPass, BandPass, Notch, Low/High, Low/Band/High Filter.
• 18dB LowPass and HighPass Filter.
• 24dB LowPass, HighPass, BandPass, Notch Filter.
• 24dB Zero Delay LowPass, HighPass, BandPass, Notch, Low/High, Low/Band/High Filter.
• 36dB LowPass and HighPass Filter.
• Vocal, Formant1, Formant2, Positive Comb Filter, Negative Comb Filter, Ping-Pong Comb Filter, Ring Modulation, Amp Modulation.
• Cutoff control for the Filters.
• Amount control for the Comb Filters / Ring and AMP modulation.
• Q (resonance) control.
• Spread control, which changes the Filter frequency for the left and right channels individually, creating a nice stereo-spread sound.
• Vowel/Mix control for the Vowel, Formant1/2, Mix Low/High, Mix Low/Band/High Filters.
• Key tracking control.
• Velocity control.
• Modulation Wheel control.
• LFO amount control.
• Distortion control.
• Pre or Post Distortion option.

LFO Section
SynFeX has an LFO that generates modulation signals to be used with two destinations available in its section:

• Waveform types: Triangle Up, Triangle Down, Saw Up, Saw Down, Sine Up, Sine Down, Square Up, Square Down, Sample and Hold.
• Modes: Poly, Free, Mono, and Legato.
• Speed control with tempo-sync option.
• Waveform Symmetry controls.
• Waveform Shape control logarithmic to exponential.
• Waveform Smoothing.
• Speed keyboard tracking.
• Two destinations with amount control and bypass feature.

MAIN Section
In the Main section you can control how SynFeX volume and panning and how it responds to notes played, either polyphonic or monophonic. The portamento is also set here:

• Volume control.
• Velocity to Vol control.
• Spread control, from mono at 0% to fully stereo at 100%.
• Panning control.
• Play Modes are, Poly, Poly MPE, Mono, Mono Hi, Mono Low, Legato, Legato Hi, and Legato Lo.
• Portamention modes, Constant Rate, Constant Time, Held Rate, Held Time.
• Portamento Speed.
• Pitch Bend Up / Down with a range up to 48 semitones.

MOD 1-4
In total 4 additional modulations slots are available, mainly for the 'Ribbon Controller' or additional modulations:

• 4 modulation slots.
• Sources are MIDI and SynFeX parts.
• Destinations are SynFeX parameters and FX parameters.
• Amount control with positive and negative modulation and bypass feature.

Ribbon Controller
Dedicated modulation source with the unique spring back feature. The Ribbon Controller can be used in BiPolar or UniPolar mode:

• BiPolar mode.
• Spring Back features included tempo-based settings.
• Quantized return steps settings for the Spring Back feature.

FX Section
SynFeX has 4 FX units – a Lo-Fi Distortion, a multi-mode Modulation FX, a Stereo Delay, and a Reverb, which can be organized in whichever path you want via the Path menu:

• LoFi effect with sample rate and bit control.
• Modulation FX section with Chorus, Flanger, Ensemble, Phaser, Wah-Wah, TalkBox, Tremolo, AutoPan, Ring modulator, and Gator.
• Stereo Delay with the unique equal feedback option.
• Reverb with the RP-VERB algorithm.
• Bypass per FX, or for All FX.
• FX path order menu.

Bank Manager
There are four main sections: Presets, Find, Search Category, and Set Category. For each section, the Banks are visible on the right-hand side.
While in the Preset screen in the Bank Manager, you can mark any Preset with a Star if you like the Preset.

Sample Editor section
SynFeX can use samples in WAV, or AIFF format:

• Built in browser.
• Drag and drop feature.
• Sample Play Modes, One-Shot, Looped, Ping-Pong (Bidirectional).
• Sample Start control.
• Sample Loop Start and End control.
• Zoom in/out/reset waveform.
• Various command options to alter the loaded sample.

Back Screen
A click on the SynFeX logo will display the back panel. The back panel contains several global controls that affect all instances of SynFeX:

• GUI size options are 100%, 125%, 150%, and 200%.
• Computer Keyboard Up / Down.
• External MIDI Control Capture Mode.
• MIDI Program / Bank Change.
• MIDI Channel.
• Tuning with .tun files option.
• Anti-aliasing Filter settings.
