Intro

Techivation T-Clarity is an audio plug-in designed to clean muddiness and boxiness in audio. It is a powerful tool for making your mid-range sound more solid and consistent. T-Clarity enhances the quality of mid-range frequencies musically, and it's an essential tool along with the T-De-Esser for any audio processing tasks.

What is a muddy and boxy sound?

It's very common to have an unpleasant sound from 200 to 500Hz in most recordings and mixes, and those unwanted audio effects are usually referred to as muddy sounds. A muddy sound is mainly caused by not having the right balance in the sounds. Boxiness is a similar unpleasant sound coming from a frequency range of 250 and 900Hz in many recordings.

A common way of fixing muddiness is to cut down the frequencies using an EQ, however, it comes with the price of having your overall sound changed, as muddiness may only occur at some parts of your sound source or mix. A more frequently used method is to use dynamic EQ, s, but they often make the final sound unnatural, as they may badly affect the frequency balance.

Just like how the Techivation T-De-Esser cleans up the high frequencies of sounds giving a musical and natural-sounding result, the T-Clarity does this on the low and mid frequencies of sound, resulting in a clear, smooth, and pleasant sound.

Clean muddy & boxy sounds, fast

You can use T-Clarity to:

  • Remove muddiness and boxiness from sound sources that were closely mic'd.
  • Manage mid-range in vocals and dialog in a transparent manner.
  • Add more balance to your mixes.
  • Treat irregular tonal balance caused by the poor recording quality.
  • Control the mid frequencies in overheads', such as kick drums, snare, or tom drum.
  • Give more dynamic range to your tracks while mastering, due to the reduction of unnecessary mid frequencies.

T-Clarity, like the T-De-Esser, can help you optimize your audio processing workflow by saving you time and effort. It is as effective on individual tracks as it is on buses. It excels in a broad variety of applications, from sound design and post-production to the most demanding mastering tasks.

The special behavior

Unlike most tools that may help fix muddiness and boxiness in sounds, the T-clarity gives you a very musical and natural-sounding result.

The only noticeable difference in your final output will be the removal of muddy and boxy sounds.

Graphic user interface (GUI)

Visuals can distract your hearing, digital graphs are very likely to affect your decision-making when it comes to setting the values. T-Clarity helps you stay more focused on a nice output sound, rather than how things visually change as you tweak the plug-in settings.

There are the same number of knobs and buttons as the T-De-Esser in T-Clarity while they have the same placement order. Many are familiar with how the T-De-Esser settings work, and how quickly and easily it would improve your sounds. Following that, we kept the same workflow for T-Clarity while it gives you different results for a different purpose than the T-De-Esser.

Fast and effective

We love simplicity and having things more organized. Quick solutions save you time, and the saved time can be used to achieve greater accomplishments.

T-Clarity was created with the same goal in mind.. It can save you a lot of time and effort while helping you get a better result out of your work.

The same way as T-De-Esser turning the processing knob starts the plug-in's operation, you then set how intense you want to go according to your taste. There are 4 frequency bands available to choose between, choose depending on where the muddy and boxy sounds are coming from.

Available as

I must admit I'm always looking for those kind of plugins :D I love clear mixes.

Since using T-Clarity, I've found the low-frequency range mode to be perfect for cleaning up muddiness and boxy sound on drum tracks, guitar bass tracks, and even complex submixes.

I have and use T-Clarity. It's accurate, it doesn't compromise the sonic character of the mix and keeps my workflow moving. It's a great alternative to pulling an EQ and spending the time on zero'ing in on the problem.
