Exponential Phoenix is invisible 3D maker - really clean and effective. If you need something speacial with character and modulation, try Exponential R2, Lexicon PCM, LPX or Valhalla V3

@ hibidy - I lost the thread ... what was your decision :clown: Im lost...

I like RP verb, I have RP verb. I have to admit, I'd forgotten about it  I've had issues with the delay though and thought the interface was a bit strange at times.

That the Hofa IQ reverb sounds absolutely fantastic but there are some gui issues. Sometimes it will just wail. Sometimes, there are drop outs. It's not cut and dry exactly when it happens. I'll re-email them today at least informing them of my findings.

Cheers for the update. I'll keep an eye on how yu get on. Did you but it or simply demo?

I sucummbed this year to both Vahalla verbs (didnt think I would).

May give Hofa a whirl when I get some time.

Just to add to the demos that are on the SKnote site, I quickly just rendered these out. Very boring, but that is what you want sometimes. Just cycling through a few presets I quickly knocked up:

Necklace:

Stagespace:

First impressions?

Necklace seems quite versatile with some nice soft reverbs, considering it is modeled on a spring. It'll definitely get some use. Nothing earth shattering but it does what it does well.

Stagespace seems a bit unremarkable at first till you play about with the controls. It is a bit different to other reverbs with lots of unfamiliar settings (at least to me). But you can get a good range of tones out of it. Nothing that really grabs your attention. But I think it might be more of a workhorse kind of thing. It can get quite dense though. I need to learn how to use it before I comment further. I got it sounding quite close to Eos though at least on one setting.

Here are some quick examples I did on a vox sample -

Sample with Eos on a send:

I haven't bought it yet.

Did you get around to installing V7 of the Melda plugin after all? I'm curious to know if you got the Bricasti samples to load. Which would indicate that there is definitely a problem with v8, if you did.

Holy Moly! The CPU needed for Stagespace is through the roof!

Image

I expected it to be a bit lower than Verbtone, not practically double it.

Oh well.

The figures are accurate, I double checked them in Ableton and give or take one or two percent, they correspond for all of them.

The Korg MDE-X isn't on that list but it does come in at the lowest CPU reading of 2 percent. By far the best bang for the buck sound/cpu wise.

Time to get a new laptop I think.

So what reverb did the OP choose? I'm on my phone...

What do you have now?

Triple Core AMD 1.8GHz. It's very average I know, but it does pretty much what I want.

I have a quad core i5 desktop oc'd to 3.6GHz and it's super fast compared to this.

I think maybe a new i5 lappy might make a big difference.

It's weird though, coz when I just loaded Stagespace and Necklace and put them on a drum track it says my cpu is at 20 percent, that is with attack and drumazon going too. This is in EXT2.

I think you are due.

Don't get me wrong though, Valhalla Vintage Verb is amazing.
It's just very colourful and characterful. The 'mid' frequencies can be overwhelming.
It's great, but very much an effect. I would use it and R2 for most big dubby verbs and lush spaces, but i just find that VVV often has too much of a ringing harmonic thing going on. Which can offer something really special, but like i say, after i tried Exponential - I find they are less of an 'effect', and mesh with the source like no other verb. Phoenix is definitely something special. I will continue writing home about THAT verb ;)

Yah I imagine I'll probably end up buying exponential audios stuff someday too. And Altiverb.. but only when i get more cash saved up which won't be anytime soon with school bills coming up.

Have you tried the Smooth Plate algorithm in the beta yet?
