Funny, the JPS manual is in 1974 b/w style.
Would be nice if some Reason user could post an image of the Oxy4 patch for the first oscillator (second osc is visible in the YT video).

Not very accurate, the dev explained it to us on a Jarre forum. He said it's like a look-a-like 100% but that does not carry over into the sound.
It's a rack extension after all, not a well coded plugin, with hours and hours of testing and comparing with a real HS. He did follow the schematics, but there was no modern emulation attempt here, at the component level.

The problem is, on every video there are other settings.JPS wrote:The chorus lead settings used here are taken from video footage of Jarre playing the RMI
I got good results on FM8 by analysing a solo sound sample by RMI expert J. Schurer.

Hi everybody! I'm new on this forum...
I really love JMJ's music and I'm trying to cover some of his songs, mainly Oxygene II/IV, Equinoxe IV and Rendez-Vous II/IV. But recently I've downloaded a free VST sampler and some .wav samples of famous synth patchs from the Web, like Roland D-50's Pizzagogo and Fairlight CMI's ARR1, and decided to search for an E-MU Emulator (I or II???) Tsut sample in order to cover Zoolookologie. That search was totally unsuccessful... So, I'm going to look like a gimme pig, but here I go:
Does anybody know about a (preferably free) sample of this patch?
I've downloaded many free VSTi from here and they are really useful, but that particular sound is difficult to obtain if you don't use a sample... I really appreciate any help you can provide!

UVI use to give away Ditigal Synsations from time to time. It has plenty of Roland D-50 samples.DanielFA wrote:Hi everybody! I'm new on this forum...

For Emulator 1/2 there are no free stuff as far as I know.
However there are some payware stuff for that.

Only in mp3 form, but maybe you can extract something useful from the file.

Hey Dudes,
I recently managed to get very close to the oxygen 4 chorus lead in reason 5, using only THOR synth (and Scream's tape compression effect + usual effects in the mixer - reverb, compression, chorus).
Will try to make a footage soon and provide the refill for those who wants to test it.
Cheers from France,
Mike.

I can see why JMJ likes Xils synths, both XILS 4 and Syn'X 2 are truly musical and sound great. Most newer synths have that digital sheen in their sounds, which sometimes great and make them more live sounding. But also often make them less analog sounding. It's a bit frustrating that the new version of another product, which was used to be my favorite has an upgraded engine which sounds a bit more sterile to me. That I had to re-install the older version, just for a slightly more raw sounding tone. But not with Xils and I hope it will stay that way, they improved the engine without making it sounds more digital. Maybe there's a trend for a sharper, more cutting and colder digital sounding tone in today's music. But imho vintage analog emulation shouldn't follow the trend, they should stay vintage, raw and warm like the original design. Just like the Model D is more preferable to me than the Voyager, which is a great synth but just not the same. It's better to use another name for a different sounding engine, even with a similar architecture.electro wrote:The XILS 3.2 and XILS 4 are amazing synths.
