My next major purchase, god willing, will be a Seaboard Rise 49. So until Arturia begins incorporating MPE, I'll pass. It's a nice deal at 50 percent off though of course.

Me too, MPE is essential...
And I would love to see a modeled UPIC. I could get them a contact for a real one, its even in France...

As good as Zebra is, DX7 is a new masterpiece. Add the Buchla, the CMI and the updated Synclavier? Definitely worth the extra money over the price of Zebra.V0RT3X wrote: Tue Oct 30, 2018 11:45 pm Should I even buy this even though I own nearly all the U-he stuff or should I just buy Zebra and finish my collection.. hmm
choices..

Not that Zebra is bad or in any way lacking. It’s the most powerful general purpose synth out there. But the Arturia ones are more narrow and specialized in focus in ways that Zebra aren’t.

The V collection is there to feed your nostalgica or if your are interested in hands on history. To create and design sounds in the most flexible and advanced way, you‘d rather look for something else... (Halion, Reaktor, Zebra, Synthmaster etc...)
And to finish your collection is probably a good idea anyway, you don‘t need to buy anything for that...

Agreed about the nostalgia, but it all comes down to sound. Some of the sounds of like the Synclavier, DX7, etc., are what is wanted, rather than a general purpose workhorse. Some people actually make music that is based in the 80s, for example, so emulations are both required, and appreciated.

I couldn‘t agree more with you. The whole Arturia stuff sounds so outdated and onedimensional to me... Add the customer unfriendly upgrade pricing scheme that leads to permanent high costs maintaining the Collection and you know what to to!Tj Shredder wrote: Wed Oct 31, 2018 6:34 am The V collection is there to feed your nostalgica or if your are interested in hands on history. This is true. I'm far more in love with the analogue 70s early 80s era than the mid 80s garishness of the DX7 or indeed Synclavier. Those synths can of course produce sounds that analogue never could and they really work well for some specific timbres, but overall as I muck around with the Synclavier most of the time I'm just thinking "yuk".egbert101 wrote: Wed Oct 31, 2018 8:09 am Agreed about the nostalgia, but it all comes down to sound. But as for more analogue emulations... I dunno, I think the seemingly eternal quest to model literally every bit of hardware released to complete perfection is something of a fools endeavour. The reality is that this is already a pretty mature market, and only marginal gains and increasingly subtle variances to distinguish one from another. Famously some of Arturia's specific emulsions aren't cutting edge so they could be updated, but its hard to imagine they could really bring too much to rival some of the competitors.

Have any of you tried creating FM patches in DX7? It's really, really nice. Such a clean, friendly interface. Just because it screams 1980s doesn't mean that you can't get really, really cool patches out of it, no nostalgia required. It is legitimately a good, powerful FM synthesizer.

The interesting thing is...The sounds produced with the Collection are Classic-Vintage-Nostalgic taking you back in time - bringing memories back ... I really listened to a lot of electronic music - everything there was : the album that took me into a deep state of dream/meditation is :martinjuenke wrote: Wed Oct 31, 2018 8:29 amI couldn‘t agree more with you. It's just an amazing album !! ..
.Now..I'm listening everything by The Flashbulb - huge amount of music that - has great variety of sounds coming from the era the Arturia V Collection 6 covers and more.I find all sort of sounds that I'd say are built in now in my DNA
so ...I'd say ...I found music that ticks 99% of the boxes..
One may like it or not but Any given music fits perfectly in a specific time.
At present I'm enjoying the :

Personally I am a little annoyed that a 'new user' can get the entire collection of 16 instruments for the same cost as I have to pay to get 3 instruments
As usual loyal and long term users are punished.
X32 and 24C mixers, S88MK3, Live + PUSH 3, Osmose, RedShift 6, Pro3, S4, Tempera, Syntakt, Digitone, OP1-F, OPXY, TR-1000, Eurorack, TD27 Drums, Guitars, Basses, Amps and of course lots of pedals!

In the end, they are a business. They have to do what they do in order to survive. Loyalty only makes sense for smaller developers. But it works both ways, I no longer have the interest to keep paying for updates or their new products , precisely because Arturia no longer care about their loyal customer base.Personally I am a little annoyed that a 'new user' can get the entire collection of 16 instruments for the same cost as I have to pay to get 3 instrumentsAs usual loyal and long term users are punished.
