Final Limit

Final Limit (VST/AU/AAX) by Final Effect is a powerful limiter with intuitive and easy-to-use controls. With its Normal and Aggressive limiter modes, it's versatile in its uses, being equally at home adding flavor to a drum group, as it is transparently taming an entire mixdown.

More than a simple limiter, Final Limit also boasts a range of additional, and sometimes unorthodox controls: fine-tune your mixes with mid/side limiting; mono-ize or widen your audio with width control; and make decisions more intuitively with powerful audio visualization.

Final Limit is available now for $180 (plus tax) from the Final Effect website. A 14-day free trial is available.

Powerful visualization

Final Limit visualizes the incoming audio signal in a spectrograph. You can also set the gain-reduction threshold on the graph so you know exactly which frequencies in your audio are triggering the limiter.

The gain reduction meter gives immediate visual feedback as you make limiting alterations. Final Limit also gives a loudness output readout in LUFS for optimized mixing decisions for all listening platforms.

Stereo and Mid/Side limiting

Limit in standard Stereo Mode, or switch to Mid/Side Mode for separate dynamic control over your Mid and Side audio components. This is useful for balancing elements in the stereo field, ensuring they don't clash, or for more extreme and creative limiting.

Add personality with Aggressive mode

Final Limit has a Normal and Aggressive mode. Select Normal for transparent limiting, or Aggressive for a slower limiting sound with more personality.

Aggressive mode slows the release of the limiter giving a squashed sound to the body of your audio – not just the transients. It sounds particularly tasty on drums.

Stereo processing built in

More mastering processes are built into Final Limit. You can also mono-ize your signal, or emphasize stereo width, with the Width dial. Tighten up kick drums by setting width to minimum, or open up vocals and pads by turning Width to max.

Extra and unorthodox features

If you're using Final Limit creatively – perhaps using mid/side mode to unusual ends – then don't overlook the dry/wet mix slider. Not commonly found on limiters, the dry/wet slider allows you to subtly blend more extreme limiting techniques with your original source signal.

Use the Sidechain filter to control which parts of your incoming audio cause the limiter to act. This is particularly useful when working on bass-heavy mixes.

Auto Gain adds makeup gain after limiting is applied. This means your output signal will be just as loud as your output signal – no gain juggling required.

Alias noise appearing everything and metering in LUFS will not work because there is no oversampling, although it is designed for mastering purposes.

It is like a simple compressor.
Not the product it should be in 2023.

totally crap.
dont waste money.
