Midi-2-the-Max releases M2TM Progressions v.2 - brings Trillions of harmonic progressions to Ableton Live 12

Midi-2-the-Max has released M2TM Progressions v.2, a major update to their generative harmony engine for Ableton Live 12.2. The new version expands the concept of "harmonic generation" inside Live, giving producers fine control over chords, voicings, rhythm and transitions — no theory background required.

Progressions v.2 builds from a core library of 530+ base progressions, covering EDM, cinematic, ambient, pop, and jazz styles. Each progression can be transposed, rotated, reversed, or reshaped. Musicians can adjust voicing density, choose between closed or open chords, merge shared tones for smoother transitions, and add bass or upper extensions for richer textures. Custom chord durations and 150+ rhythm patterns with smart randomization yield over 100,000 billion unique combinations.

At its core, the device features an enhanced auto-inversion and voice-leading engine, automatically selecting the most natural chord inversions and connecting harmonies as a skilled pianist would — ensuring fluid movement between chords without abrupt jumps. Progressions can be appended or merged within the same clip, with the loop-match option keeping Ableton's loop area aligned to the generated material. Chord sequences can be easily exported as text to other apps for editing and printing.

Unlike static chord packs, M2TM Progressions v.2 is fully generative: every sequence remains editable and adaptive to key, scale, and rhythm. It helps producers move quickly from sketches to full harmonic structures across genres — and even allows users to extend the core library with their own progressions.

Pricing and Availability

MTM Progressions v2 is €20. The companion M2TM Progressions Refill, also €20, adds 1,001 extra progressions across pop, jazz, Latin and world styles, and is fully compatible with the same workflow. Both are available as a bundle for €30.
