Relab Development has announced the imminent release of Maselec MLA-4 Triband Compressor/Expander, the first and only officially authorized software recreation of Maselec's multiband dynamics processor.
Developed in close collaboration with Leif Mases himself, the MLA-4 delivers precise dynamic control while maintaining transparency, just like its hardware counterpart.
Unlike traditional compressors that apply blanket processing, the MLA-4 offers simultaneous multi-band compression and expansion, allowing you to fine-tune low, mid, and high frequencies dynamically and independently.
So, instead of applying the same compression across the entire mix, you can use the MLA-4 to:
- Shape the low end to retain weight without muddiness.
- Refine the midrange to bring out clarity in vocals and instruments.
- Enhance high frequencies without introducing harshness.
On top of all that, the MLA's unique sidechain linking feature ensures frequency bands interact naturally, preventing phase issues and unwanted tonal shifts.
