The multi-row layout follows the double bass's natural tuning in perfect fourths (E, A, D, G), making walking lines, melodic runs, and harmonic bass movement feel physically intuitive. Audio Modeling's SWAM engine models the complete physical behavior of string, bridge, and body as an ongoing acoustic event. The Plucked Bass's Acoustic Identity

The double bass is the largest member of the bowed string family, but in jazz from the swing era forward it is predominantly played pizzicato, the bow set aside entirely, strings plucked directly by the right hand. Unlike a plucked electric bass or guitar, the upright bass's long string length, high tension, and large acoustic body create a tone with a pronounced fundamental, fast initial transient, and warm decaying resonance that gives a jazz rhythm section its sense of forward motion.
