Plus it requires an installation of an PACE iLok service and the apple Bonjour service, plus the softube central... your email address spread over at least 2 other websites... but seriously ilok for a free plugin?

The sound is good, if you want the hussle download it, i dont think the sound justifies the extra steps and apps and services installed on your systems. 2.5 out of 5.

One of the rare saturation I know that is easy to use with subtle rendering never going in the dirty sound. One can choose between keeping the low or high untouched or not. Works great on drums, bass voice. I never used it on guitar as usually I get that through sim.

Great saturation plugin. Use it to up to 10 or 11 o'clock for gentle saturation, and above for a more distorted sound.

One important thing: They updated the plugin (along a generic Softube plugin overhaul) and the plugin has more parameters and most of all meters now.

You can adjust input and output gain independentely, have meters for Peak; Momentary, Short and Integrated RMS or LUFS for both stereo channel, input highpass and more.

Most important one is an automatic gain compensation feature which is absolutely great.

Set the mode, Dial in the amount of saturation and click on 'Set'. The plugin will thereafter automatically adjust the volume to unity gain.

The GUI is resizable as well now.

It's an excellent, great-sounding product. it is really very easy to use. and it's free!!! It has the necessary controls so that the saturation works in bass, normal and treble. For very it is a must-have plugin.

Don't konow why this has two stars. This is an excellent plugin and it's free! It's logical the lack of features, because if it had more it would be expensive. It sounds amazing.

Also most of the negative reviews are because the process of downloading it and not about the plugin quality.

Now I have an unnecessary account and still no saturation knob. The website does not work properly. And then about i lock. It really doesn't get any more complicated than that.

One of the best free saturation plugins out there. Sounds good, simple to use & its free. Another must had in your plugin arsenal.

It's a decent plugin by itself. Crunchy, analog-style saturation that can be applied to either the high or low end. What annoys me is the absolutely gigantic installer (over 100MB). Instead of just giving you the .dll, you have to go through and untick every limited demo they try to give you as well. Use Klevgrand FreeAMP or SGA1566 instead.
