It's good that the system was launched this OSC because we were able to see its flaws right away. IMO a good voting system is one that works regardless of the number of entries and has (almost) no learning curve. It's not fair to suggest that for ex less ppl should submit songs or that only a few entries would get marks from voters simply because the voting system can't handle a large ammount of entries. Ppl seem to forget how disheartening is to see your song getting zero points - not because it sucks, but because ppl were not able to score all songs, but a handful.

Please take a minute and reflect on the actual purpose of OSC...

Took me days! :)
for me too.. and I always change it! :ud:
It took me over a week - 7 hours was just total clock time spent on doing just this. I couldn't finish it in one take.

Voted.

I have heared many times that make drums is one of the hardest things in OSC, I think that voting is harder than make drums.

Post

If I had a few good EQ presets to choose from for voting, it'd be nearly as quick as making drums. :P

Hahaha! So true. In so many ways - there are so many good tracks, it's hard for me to give anyone "first place". I think different people deserve it for different reasons (although not the "categories" like sound design, musicality, etc..).

Post

Voted too...
Hard task indeed!

I read all posts about voting and even if it's my first OSC I will give my opinion :)

As crimsonwarlock stated before, I can't see how this system would be less effective for tactical voting. I think it's impossible to completely avoid it, so it may be better to believe in voters' consciousness.
To quote animehaus, it will be sad to see tracks with zero points like older OSC.
In the end, a system where voters give a note between 1-5 seems the simplest way to get a ranking. I don't have an opinion about categories; at a first glance it seems to me that's a great idea. On the other hand, it could be hard to decide on how many and which categories.

Last word to say a big thank you to everybody for taking time to post comments, to give ideas etc. It's nice to see that all you people are taking time to provide feedback. Invaluable! For a first experience, I didn't comment back, but I'll try for sure in next editions. Meanwhile I have to practice myself to write relevant comments!

OSC is great!

i voted to, maybe i will reorder a few, and thats the problem i have with this one, there is NO "this is THE BEST entry" for me :( so i dont know about this yet.... cause many i would have voted on the same likeage.

I know how you feel about that... so many with different good things about them it's hard to rank them comparatively.

Voted. There are a lot of great tracks!

Good luck everyone!

Yes do that for now, but hopefully future version will automatically hide your own track from the voting list.
