Acoustica has announced the release of Mixcraft 8 Recording Studio and Mixcraft 8 Pro Studio. The most dramatic improvements lie under the hood with the implementation of a next-generation sound engine design, making Mixcraft 8 the fastest, most powerful release in the company's 19-year history.

The standard edition is Mixcraft 8 Recording Studio ($89), aimed squarely at home and project studios. This package is a complete recording studio, featuring unlimited audio and MIDI tracks, seamless video editing, and a Performance Panel for real-time live loop triggering. New effects include the EU ProMixEQ-10A Equalizer, DTC-1 Compressor, and ORB7000 Octave Reverb. Mixcraft 8 Recording Studio delivers a total of 15 virtual instruments, including two samplers, 28 effects, and over 7,800 loops, samples, and sound effects, plus integrated access to hundreds of thousands of additional sounds from freesound.org.

The top-of-the-line package is Mixcraft 8 Pro Studio ($179), offering many additional enhancements, including seamless integration of Melodyne Essentials, Celemony's renowned pitch-correction technology. New instruments include Kastelheimer Veldberg XD, a sharp, edgy synthesizer, and a new eight-output version of Mixcraft's exclusive Omni Sampler pad-based sampler. New effects include the VTD-42 Psychedelic Delay, a classic tape delay. Mixcraft 8 Pro Studio features a total of 57 effects and 22 virtual instruments, including mastering plug-ins and instruments by iZotope, Celemony, ToneBoosters, Studio Devil, Applied Acoustics, BeatRig, QuikQuak, G-Sonique, 123 Creative, and more.

Among the new features and enhancements in Mixcraft 8 is the new Audio Control system, allowing easy control of effect and instrument parameters via audio from other tracks within a project. Offering unlimited parameter control potential, this sidechaining technology enables instruments to pulse along with a beat, filters to growl as a bass line intensifies, and reverbs to swell in size as vocals crescendo.

In addition, Mixcraft 8 now features live recording directly to the Performance Panel, VST3 plug-in support, MP4 video file support, support for sidechaining VSTs, global automation recording, MIDI clock/sync transmission, an integrated file browser, an improved UI with dark and light themes, and more. The new Mix Down to Stems feature simplifies moving mixes between studios, and the fully-customizable mixer offers many improvements, including instant effects access and multiple send knobs.

Seems the transport bar still moves to the middle of the screen when any of the bottom tabs are open. Not very clever in my view.
