Karoryfer Samples has released Merciful Cello.
Karoryfer says Merciful Cello is in many ways the opposite of Vengeful Cello, focusing on lyrical legato and naturally expressive performance instead of a large number of articulations and controls.
Articulations:
- True sampled legato in forte, mezzoforte and piano dynamics.
- Shorts with four velocity layers.
- Pizzicato in long and short variations with three velocity layers, plus muted.
- Four types of ornaments: fast half-step, slow half-step, whole-step and scoop.
Other features:
- Two types of release samples: regular and fall.
- Unison.
- Rebow samples.
- Close-miked mono recordings.
- 3400 cello samples adding up to over 900 MB.

Merciful Cello requires the free Plogue sforzando sampler (version 1.980 or higher), which works on 64-bit Windows and MacOS systems, 4 GB of RAM, and an SSD.
