Merging Technologies releases Pyramix Virtual Studio v6.0

Merging Technologies has announced the release of version 6.0 of Pyramix Virtual Studio.

Pyramix v6.0 MassCore

A new era now begins for Pyramix V6.0 with "MassCore". MassCore is a new, powerful, real-time engine for Pyramix and offers an increased level of processing and channel count. Pyramix MassCore can be configured from 16 to 384 simultaneous live input and output channels (768 I/O) at 48kHz, or at 256 channels through the mix bus into a massive 256 channel mix-buss structure. Retaining an almost infinite number of real-time editing (virtual) tracks and with latencies far lower than any other Windows or Mac based system.

So many tracks and so many channels at 48kHz may not be required by everybody but it is worth noting this also allows for 192 simultaneous I/O channels at 96kHz, 96 I/O channels at 192kHz and they don't stop there. Pyramix is, apparently, the only system in the world capable of 48 I/O channels in DXD (352.8 kHz) and DSD (1-bit 2.8MHz sample rate) for SACD production.

The MassCore engine is as powerful and as capable as a large format standalone digital console. Fully automated with freely configurable mix, buss and monitoring structures. Most importantly, Pyramix retains all its real-time editing and processing capabilities.

There are virtually no software limitations on how many plug-ins you can have in a channel, no worries about how many tracks you can have at the higher sample rates and no limitations about how many editing tracks you need. In addition, you can have all the freely assignable VST plug-ins you can muster where and whenever you want them.

Most importantly Pyramix remains one of the most open systems on the market able to play/record in just about any audio format and any bit rate that can even be mixed within the same time-line without conversion. The range of project and session interchange modules also allows Pyramix to integrate to just about all 3rd-party DAW and NLE systems.

Pyramix can be configured to suit your specific needs. The range of software specific application packs details the different versions for post, mastering, broadcast and music environments, or you may prefer to create a custom system yourself using the a-la-carte range of options.

Pyramix V6.0 MassCore Key Features:

  • Real-time (instantaneous) Editing Model.
  • Unlimited User Defined Fade/Xfade Curves and Parameters.
  • 16 to 384 Simultaneous I/O Channel System Configurations.

  • Live-in to Live-out standard latency of 5.3 ms and as low as 1.33 ms in Ultra-low latency mode.

Pyramix V6 Native

The new Pyramix V6 Native configuration is a software only version of Pyramix that meet the needs of radio broadcasters, small post facilities, MIDI studios and CD mastering houses requiring a professional, but low cost, or portable solution to their audio recording, editing, mixing and mastering needs.

You can now specify Pyramix Native in the same way as the main Pyramix system with the same application specific software packs for Post, Mastering, Music and Broadcast.

Running on any suitable Windows XP or Vista desktop or laptop PC, as well as Mac Book Pro under Bootcamp/Windows, Pyramix Native retains all the real-time editing and mixing capabilities of Merging’s main Pyramix system and supports all the same audio formats including PMF, WAV, BWF, AIFF, OMF and CD Image files that can be mixed within the same project.

The integral video playback and MIDI Synchronisation are also standard (except Broadcast Pack configuration) utilising Merging’s Virtual Transport technology. Unlike Pyramix MassCore V6.0 Native runs directly under the Windows operating system and while the software has the same configurations as Pyramix MassCore there will be unspecified limitations especially at the higher sample rates and depending on the PC specification. All Pyramix Native configurations are fully upgradable to the MassCore capabilities at any time.

Pyramix V6.0 Native General Features:
