Rogue Amoeba has announced Audio Hijack Pro 2, which is slated for release in July, 2004. Just like the original Audio Hijack Pro, version two will allow users to record and enhance any audio played by their Mac. Audio Hijack Pro 2 is still great for recording internet radio streams from programs like Real Player, burning DVD audio to CD, or saving old vinyl and cassettes into iTunes for digital playback.

Audio Hijack Pro 2 was designed from the beginning to be the easiest and most powerful way to record audio on OS X. Audio can now be recorded to the AAC and Apple Lossless audio formats, in addition to MP3 and AIFF. Using the all-new Output Bin allows for quick and easy organizing, previewing, burning, and exporting of recorded files. And the already-powerful effects processing has been enhanced with parallel effects processing and support for VSTi and AudioUnit synths.

Key new features include:
  • AAC recording and ALAC (Apple Lossless) recording.
  • Output Bin organizer.
  • Integrated Line Input Recording.
  • Improved Timers.
  • Audio file tagging (ID3).
  • VSTi and AudioUnit Synth support.

Audio Hijack Pro 2 will cost $32 for new users, previous owners of Audio Hijack Pro 1.x may upgrade for just $10 and users who have purchased Audio Hijack Pro after May 1st, 2004 will receive the upgrade to v2.0 for free.
