Unlock the power of FM synthesis with Exakt Lite, the intuitive and easy-to-use FM synthesizer plugin designed to ignite your creativity. From the iconic digital tones of the first FM era to rich, warm and organic soundscapes, Exakt Lite can create a wide range of versatile sounds.
Like many vintage machines, Exakt Lite has got 4 operators which can be arranged in FM algorithms. Each operator has got different waveforms such as the basic sine, saw, square, triangle and the classic waveforms from the Yamaha TX81Z.
Each operator has got its own amplitude envelope generator supporting the 5 point TX envelopes. These envelopes have been modeled to mimic the TX characteristics.
Combined with a flexible modulation matrix and a creamy chorus, Exakt Lite has got sounds that can be used in all types of music.
Exakt Lite has got 4 operators which can be arranged in the classic 8 FM algorithms with feedback on operator D. Each operator has got different waveforms such as the basic sine, saw, square and triangle. Additionally, the 8 classic waveforms from the Yamaha TX81Z are emulated.
Each operator has got a separate amplitude envelope generator supporting the classic 5 point TX envelopes. These envelopes have been modeled to mimic the TX characteristics.
The plugin UI has been created using vector graphics and supports blur free resizing.
Features:
4 aliasing free Operators with classic TX waveforms.

Please add function to import sysex file of Yamaha TX81Z and DX11! Only one cons of this vsti is lack of presets. If it can import sysex, that will be great advantage. Thanks.

I don't think I've ever used an FM synth that is this fun to use. I love everything about it! Especially the interface. The wave preview is genius, it's not just a scope the modulation doesn't affect it, it shows the waveform you are building with FM. It's more helpful than you might think. I also like how it doesn't try to be some kind of hybrid super synth, yes there is a filter but other than that it's a pure FM synth. It does that so well.
The sound is detailed and clean.
I would totally buy a paid version, this is the experience that one should have using an FM synth. I'd give it ten stars if I could.
Thank you Sonicbits!!!!.

I liked the sound. And that's maybe the most important thing, because the great majority of FM synths at the market suffer from bad antialiasing which is so critical here. I also like the way the synth follow parameter automation. What needs to be done, as it seems to me, is some additional modulation features: more flexible velocity and CC parameter modulation, key position sensitivity, portamento and polyphony settings etc. - to make the sound more interactive and vivid. Hope it's in your plans :).
One more strange thing is high standby CPU load. It's even higher then with some voices on. Looks like some kind of bug (UPD: fixed in v 1.1! Thanx).

Not bad! I liked the fact that this didn't really need effects, it had lots of options that would give similar results. I'd suggest adding a scroll option to the envelope editor for longer envelopes, maybe using the scroll wheel? Other than that, great plugin. Personally, I found that this works great for a bass or chords, given that it's easy to make soft sounds with this. Sorry if this review makes no sense, I'm pretty new to music making so I'm not very knowledgeable.

Very promising fm-plugin. Could become one of the best and easiest vst.
At least the release-envelope is working correctly, however the plugin does not recognize a sustain-pedal. Piano sounds are therefore almost impossible, which is a no-go on fm-synths.
I hope this will be changed in the future.
For some reason when I tried to download Microsoft marked it as a harmful file... of course I overrode that and downloaded the plugin. Windows 10 freaks out whenever you download a .exe fil so perhaps it would be better to put the download in a zip file.
Thanks for the suggestion.

Hi! A little bug found. Pitch band range setting doesn't store with the plugin instance inside a DAW. When reopening the project it appears to be in default position no matter what was the range set in previous session.
Hi and thanks for your message.
The pitch bend range is currently not stored in the presets and is applied globally. I will store the setting in a future version.
@sonicbits thank you so much.
Great FM synth, what's missing in this synthesizer:
1) need more algorithms
2) more operators (6 op will be great)
3) the ability to import your waveforms
4) add other LFOs waveforms (random, s&h, step seq).
5) modulation matrix.
6) switch button: ultra (for render) and low CPU operating modes
7) MIDI learn as in U-he synths will be great
I hope this functionality will be present in the full version of the synthesizer and I would buy it with great pleasure.
Uhh how about no. It's not a damn wavetable hybrid. It's supposed to give you classic 4-op FM. Please respect the author's design. He already added his own modulation enhancements.
Please study FM synthesis and understand that even 2-op has not been fully explored yet.

Reaper user here. Despite my repeated and varied attempts, my DAW can't/won't "see" this synth. Are there any other Reaper users who are experiencing the same problem and could offer a solution?
Hi Cardenio
Please write an email to info@sonicbits.com so we can sort out the issue.
Message sent. I eagerly await your reply.
Does this synth also work on Win7, respectively, has anyone tested it so far on Win7 64-bit???
However, great looking synth! :-).
Didn't work here ...
Anybody got an idea how to get this lovely VST running in Windows 7 (64-bit) ?
To me this is the first plugin _ever_, not running in Win 7 ...
A hint would be great.
Hey, I have a question to the developer. Would you be so kind as to extend the range of the HP filter down to the 30 Hz? It's very useful for subtly boosting bass patches and it's such a shame it doesn't go low enough.
Thanks for the suggestion!
I will look into it. It's probably not possible without changing the whole cutoff range for this plugin parameter. This will affect LP and BP as well and all presets made with previous versions.
Thanks. It's just a minor issue, but the filter range would then make a lot more sense especially when dealing with bass patches, 50 Hz is just inadequate in some cases. BTW, do you intend to create a fully featured 6-operator paid, "non-lite" version? The more FM synths, the merrier. Something like an overpowered Dexed with a small, 4-slot mod matrix and the ability to patch things like a noise generator and keytracking to the pitch of individual operators or FM drive would be swell. Anyway, thanks for the freebie, great work.
Thouch screen response would be nice to have. On screen keyboard would become much more usefull allowing to play chords not only single notes with a mouse click.
The upcoming next version should support touch input (Windows only).
Hello there, for some unknown reason, the v1.3 version vst3/vst2 is not loading in reaper and other daw as well but the 1.0 is loading just fine. hopefully you fixed asap. thx.
Hello.
last version does't work on Mac OS Big Sur (the GUI does not respond to actions of mouse) Please fix it.
Thanks for the message. A new version supporting Big Sur is coming soon.
I'm unable to install the plugin on my Mac 10.11. Every time I download the installer then open it, I get the notice as follows: "ExaktLite1.4.pkg can't be opened because its digital signature is invalid. The package may have been corrupted or tampered with. Get a new copy of the package and try again." Any suggestions or help will be welcomed. Thanks.
Please write an email to info@sonicbits.com so we can sort out the issue.
I like this synth and i've been using it since 1.02 or so... but I've always found its sound a bit dull & tamed.
Comparing this with Genny (https://gendev.spritesmind.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1062) I find the extra edge of FM patches. Even Dexed has better edge.
Maybe a lower samplerate or higher gain would help to achieve that sharpness.
I love this synth because I used to have DX11, and I guess this is the only synth which has 4 operators. (where DEXED, FM8 OPSIX are all 6 ops synth).
Only the issue of this synth for me is that it doesn't have enough presets. It has only 32 presets!, even other latest synth has tons of presets.
In the next version, Please include more presets (At least 128 factory presets, Hopefully 512), and Please add function for importing presets via SysEx.
Then this synth will be more attractive and popular for everyone.
Thanks.
