Naada Clarinet delivers a physically modeled clarinet inside GeoShred Studio, where embouchure dynamics, register transitions, and the instrument's characteristic tonal shifts respond directly to pressure and gesture on the playing surface. The instrument is fully polyphonic, supporting chords and layered clarinet voices simultaneously.

Works with MPE controllers, wind and breath controllers, and GeoShred Control, a free iPhone and iPad companion app that delivers a multi-touch expressive surface for live performance.

Naada Clarinet runs inside GeoShred Studio, placing the clarinet's full register spectrum on GeoShred's multi-row continuous pitch surface. Slide across the grid to move through the dark chalumeau, the break, and the bright clarion register as a continuous gesture; press into the surface to shape embouchure dynamics, reed behavior, and vibrato depth in real time. Because the instrument is polyphonic, you can voice clarinet chords, sustain one register while phrasing in another, or layer independent melodic lines. GeoShred's integrated FX rack adds EchoMT, Reverb, and AmpCab processing directly in the signal chain.

Cylindrical Bore, Hollow Warmth

The clarinet is a cylindrical single-reed woodwind, typically made from African blackwood, whose bore geometry suppresses even harmonics and produces the instrument's distinctively hollow, rounded tone. This cylindrical design also causes the clarinet to overblow at the twelfth rather than the octave, creating the characteristic "break" between the dark chalumeau register and the brighter clarion above it. Crossing that break smoothly is one of the fundamental challenges of clarinet technique, and the timbral contrast between the two registers is central to the instrument's musical identity, from Mozart's concerto writing to the opening glissando of Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue.

GeoShred Studio and GeoShred Control

GeoShred Studio operates as a VST3, AU, or AUv3 plugin inside major DAWs, or as a standalone application. Its isomorphic surface is tuned in perfect fourths, providing a layout where melodic intervals repeat consistently across rows. Pressure and gesture are mapped continuously to instrument parameters, making the surface a direct conduit for expression rather than a series of on/off triggers.

GeoShred Control is a free companion app for iPhone and iPad that connects via USB, adding a second multi-touch expressive surface for live performance. MPE hardware controllers and wind or breath controllers connect directly to GeoShred Studio as well.
