Signal Noise SN01-G Compressor

I don't know how this plugin has not received more attention and acclaim. It does exactly what it should do, with more flexibility and drastically less CPU than any other plugin I've come across. Some tape plugins claim that they can be used across multiple tracks, but that claim means very little if it uses up 50% of your CPU to do so. With this plugin, that becomes a reality, with a barely noticable CPU hit.

The addition of either offline oversampling or some high frequency filtering would be welcome additions when using more extreme settings, but I'm running it with great success in cakewalk, where you can oversample any individual plugins.

Kudos to the developer for making the first tape emulation plugin we can all become fanatical about (which we should!!!) and can use all over our mixes.

Signal Noise SN04-G Channel EQ

Superb EQ plugin!

Despite being simple to use there is much "under the hood" with several not immediately apparent options.
"A - B" modes in Q controls make a world of difference in frequency response also depending on wether you're using Bell EQ modes or Shelf modes.

It started sounding great right from the first time i used it but later, when checking it with "DDMF's Plugin Doctor" i was surprised to see results that were as perfect, clean and distortion free as DMG's flagship Equilibrium.

SN04-EQ is a superb Master Bus EQ, much better than all the competitors i have tested and way more efficient than Waves' API series plugins.

It's a no-brainer. Download it.

Signal Noise SN02-G VU Meter

Version reviewed: 1.2.1 on Windows

I love TBProAudio mvMeter and dpMeter. That is my reference.

BUT... this lil' baby packs performance.
At half a MB, very realistic VU meter that adds <0.5% of processing to the mix.

Adjustable reference, HOLD on/off, stereo/mono.
And that's all there is.

But with metering, performance is the key.

So, 5 stars.

very subtile effect, it's relatively easy to use.

Sound good, not on the first try, you need to understand the control.

I use it a lot on my masters bus in my productions.

Signal Noise SN05-G Brickwall Limiter

Version reviewed: 2.20 on Windows

Its an excellent limiter and clipper. The VU its great, very precise and shows limit and clip at the same time.

But it lacks a better GUI with info about adjustments (like SN01-G).

- You dont know how many ms or s you are setting. Its not possible to do an accurate adjustment. Knobs should show ms like SN01-G.

- The led doesn't inform its utility (I know its in the manual) it should say "Sidechain" on it (on the left of HP?).

- SC means Soft Clipper but can be misunderstood as Sidechain (because of HP knob) it should say "Soft Clipper"

- R2 sets the release time of the hard clipper, but can be misunderstood as a second release for the limiter, it should say.

"Hard Clipper Release"

Thank you for the plugin.

Signal Noise SN03-G Tape Recorder

Almost as good as Airwindows' Iron Oxide tape emulation VSTs. Sounds really good if you push it - lots of low-end and distortion. My only real complaint is that the tape hiss function is a bit useless - it's a sample sound playing on a constant loop that you can turn on and off. Would be helpful if the tape hiss was more dynamic and responsive to input.
