Waves Announces SuperRack Performer – Mix Live with Plugins, Natively on Mac & PC

Waves Audio has announced SuperRack Performer, a live-sound Waves plugin host running natively on Mac & PC. Here's what they say:

With SuperRack Performer, you can now get the exact live sound you want, by just adding Waves plugins to live setups of any size, any budget. All you need are Waves plugins running on a Mac or PC connected to the mixer, with no extra hardware required.

Simple to set up, it is a natural extension of any mixing console, digital or analog. It's optimized for simple setup and connectivity, no matter the venue, and streamlined for live show use with efficient loading, routing, plugin control, quick keys, MIDI-use and snapshot recall.

Insert your plugins of choice for the perfect vocal tuning & FX, tight and punchy drums, instant feedback elimination, even your favorite analog-modeled chain on the mix bus—and much more. With SuperRack Performer, you are no longer being held back by problematic gear or venues. Use your Waves plugins to solve room problems, make the show sound as polished as studio recordings, and empower your performers to sound great anywhere.

Likewise, musicians can now take full control of their show, with no need to compromise on their live setup. They can now give fans their studio sound on stage by using the exact plugin chains used in their recordings.

I don't understand the beauty of Super Rack Performer. I work with MainStage and Gigperformer. Almost everything you can do with Super Rack Performer can be done with these. With the benefit that you are not limited to Waves plugins. Steinberg has with VST Live another solution, so far I know, this has not been able to establish itself on large scale on the market so far.

But there is another topic: After the resent subscription chaos of Waves I will definitely not go for any Waves solution.

That's right, it's better to steer clear of Waves' products and no longer trust them. The update plan is still there and it can cost huge sums of money if you are not careful. Gigperformer is also more mature than the Waves product and works with all plugins from various manufacturers.

Another Gig Performer user here. It runs very well both on my Windows machines and MBP. I don't even use any Waves products that I already "own."
